| What is a "central amendment" to a patent application before the European Patent Office (EPO)? At the request of the proprietor, the European patent may be revoked or be limited by an amendment of the claims. The request may not be filed while opposition proceedings in respect of the European patent are pending. After the request is filed, it will be examined, as follows: The EPO shall examine whether the requirements laid down in the Implementing Regulations have been met. If the EPO considers that the requirements were met, it will accept or reject the request. The amendment applies in all the Designated States. |
