| Can I have a patent for an actual method of medical treatment? In the USA, methods of treatment of the human body is allowed - this is one reason why medical bills in the states are so expensive. In Europe, methods of treatment are not allowable as it is considered not capable of industrial application, (Article 52(4) EPC, Section 4(2) PA). An underlying principle of this is that physicians and vets should be able to go about their work without fear of being sued for infringing a patent. |
